For Trust/Clinical guidance, information and advice, please use the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Info Hub, which is available on the Trust intranet. RD&E IT login is required for access off-site.
If you have any suggestions for resources you’d like to see added to the Topic Guide, please contact the Library: firstname.lastname@example.org.
BMJ Best Practice is available to all RD&E staff via Non-Clinical Systems on Hub, without a login.
If you want to access BMJ Best Practice off-site or at home, you’ll need to log in with NHS OpenAthens, and the way you do this has changed slightly.
- Visit bestpractice.bmj.com and click ‘Log in‘.
- You will be presented with an ‘Access through your institution‘ button.
3. When selected, you will be asked to search for your institution. Please type and select ‘NHS in England’, and then log in using your OpenAthens username and password.
4. Click ‘continue‘ to link your OpenAthens account with your BMJ Best Practice personal account. You can use these personal account details to log in and access BMJ Best Practice anywhere.
If you have any problems, please contact the Library team.
Trust Journal Club – Community services pilot
Launching in November 2018 will be an online Facebook journal club to support staff with participatory continued professional development as part of the revalidation requirements by enabling online discussion and reflection; this is a pilot within community services but will be rolled out to other areas if successful.
The Facebook page is a closed group which you will have to request to join; using this format allows staff to access discussion and content whenever convenient.
Each month an article will be posted, staff can read this article either contributing to existing conversations or start their own by adding comment below as they would on any other Facebook post.
A reflective template has also been created with staff can download to use as evidence is their revalidation portfolio.
To find the group search for ‘RD&E Online Journal Club’ in the Groups category, request to join and you will be asked two questions, your job role and place of work.
If there is a particular subject or article that you would like to be posted you can message the Facebook page with your suggestion.
For more information, contact Emma Watson, Clinical Skills Facilitator.
From 1st April 2017, the Trust will no longer have access to DynaMed Plus. Links will be removed from the Hub and the library website. Some staff may have downloaded the DynaMed Plus app on their devices; this access will also stop from 1st April, when the subscription ends.
The Trust still has a subscription to UpToDate – a key clinical-decision making tool. Links are available from Hub (under Non-clinical systems – no login required on-site) and the library website. It is accessible off-site or on devices at http://www.uptodate.com/ – login in with your NHS OpenAthens username and password. If you don’t have an NHS OpenAthens username and password you can register for one at: https://openathens.nice.org.uk/.
